The team’s philosophy is to develop and
enhance swimming skills while building mental self-confidence and discipline.
Most importantly, the team participation is a great opportunity to nurture the
development of healthy bodies, new friendships and “team work” principles.
The Woodlands Marlins is a summer season swim team. We are members of the
Northwest Aquatic League ("NWAL"); and the NWAL rules govern our meets. See
www.nwal.org for a copy of the official 2008 NWAL rules.
The Marlins hold our home swim meets at the Woodlands Athletic Club (the “WAC”).
Prior to school letting out, we practice at both the WAC and a neighboring
community pool. After school is finished, all practices are held at the WAC.
Each Marlin swimmer pays a registration fee. A portion of this fee is paid to
the WAC as a facility usage fee for practices, meets, and other team events. All
other team expenses are paid directly out of the Marlin operating budget. The
Marlins' Board and Parent Volunteers work closely with the Coaches to plan the
team's meets and other functions. Other than the Coaching, this team is run
entirely on volunteer effort, and depends on parent involvement--your
involvement!
